More on Elliot....

Fatsy has truly been a nurse to me and Elliot. She was with me during all of my labor and delivery and she is constantly by my side, watching over baby Elliot. She seems to understand everything about being maternal. I have no doubt that she must have birthed some pups in her lifetime before we got her. She even enjoyed posing with the Birth Rock.

Here are some recent photos from today and yesterday of Mr. Elliot.
Elliot with his Birth Rock.

Ken talking with Elliot, who seemed to totally absorb and take in what Daddy had to say.

My midwife, Pam, came over to check on us yesterday and Elliot is just perfect in every way...of course, we already knew that!

She weighed him again and usually babies lose weight in the first few days. But not Elliot. In fact, he gained another 3 ounces in 5 days...so he is up to 10 lbs 7 oz, and gaining more and more each day, judging from the amount of times he nurses, which is every 1-2 hours. When he is awake, he expects to be nursed, and does not tolerate waiting very well. He has gone as long as 4 hours during the night, which is a nice relief and gives me a little time to sleep. The big news of today is that Elliot's belly button cord fell off at 1:30pm today!! I guess that is kind of like a milestone for him.

Pam, weighing Elliot yesterday. He's up to 10 lbs, 7 oz now.

Pam, talking and checking Elliot's vitals, with Fatsy the nurse-dog, keeping a watchful eye on her little charge.

When Elliot is alert and awake like this, it's so fun to talk with him. It seems as if he totally understands what we are saying to him.

Congratulations Traben Family!!! Your new addition is a cutie! You are so lucky to have so much family nearby.
I know the labor must have been difficult. I had Ethan at home and he was big too, 12 lbs in fact. You are a brave woman, Betsy! Congrats again!
