Albert

Meet Albert, our current foster dog. Yes, ANOTHER Beagle!

Albert was rescued in Portage county...the victim of an abusive hunter, who really was mean to Albert. Luckily, Albert is in good hands now and is learning to trust and love humans again. Lately, the number of beagles that need homes (and are sent to our home) is astronomical. There are just a lot of beagles out there in need of homes! The thing is, I have learned to just absolutely love the beagle breed. They are very non-agressive, loving and snuggly couch potatoes. They are great family dogs. Give them a sofa, a blanket and a belly rub and the world is great in their eyes. We are also dog-sitting one of our past foster dogs for the next 10 days, who has since found a wonderful home...if you remember Ms. Polly (from January 2008). So, with Polly and Albert visiting our home now, we have 7 dogs here. And, I have been insistent on walking them all daily, so we are quite the sight when we head out for our dog walks. Isaiah and Jeremy are super helpers though. I can walk 4 dogs at a time (Morgan, Penny, Fatsy and Polly), Isaiah usually walks 2 dogs (Lola and Mia) and Jeremy has been walking Albert.

Albert has been a great dog here so far. He gets along with all the other dogs and is very gentle and friendly. Even though he is a beagle, he does not bark much at all, and he seems to be housetrained. I am hoping to find him a wonderful and deserving home soon.
Isaiah, sitting with Albert and Fatsy, on the way home from Rose's house last weekend. We picked Albert up from Rose's farm (of Rose's Rescue). We brought Fatsy with us, since she is great at welcoming new dogs into the home. She makes them feel comfortable and happy right away.
Jeremy, sitting with Albert on the couch. The kids love bringing in foster dogs and they are always sad to see them go. But, this dog-fostering has been a great thing for them. It teaches them responsibility and selflessness, as well as giving to others in need. For us, animal rescue is kind of like our religion...it gives to those in need, helps others (animals and humans) and continues to make us grow into better people.
